• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Memorial Day Weekend Visit

May 22nd, 2009 by Connie Roberts

This Memorial Day weekend is going to include a special visit. On Monday, we are going to a a picnic at the nursing home where my aunt is still residing. She’s been quite depressed these last few weeks so we want to make an extra effort to do something just for her.

She’s been in long term care since the beginning of January. We thought her stay would be short and that she’d be coming along with us to my daughter’s wedding in August. Instead, she’s had a few setbacks along the way. This Thursday she’s going in for her second shoulder surgery. Yes, the same shoulder that she had surgery on back in December. It hasn’t healed correctly and needs to be repaired. She still can’t walk safely, has had infections, her Diabetes is not doing well and she still needs serious gum surgery.

We are so sad that she won’t be able to attend the wedding. My daughter is very close to her as she’s grown up with her living near by. But, with the time it will take to recover from this upcoming surgery, we know she won’t be ready by August. We have to face facts.

My youngest daughter is going to draw her some pictures, I’m bringing my laptop to show her photos and we’re bringing some snacks for her to enjoy. She deserves a little fun this weekend, especially before going through another surgery.

I think that is very sweet that you are going to spend time with your Aunt this weekend, and that your daughter is drawing her pictures and you are going to bring her pics to show. Its always hard when someone we love is getting older. But I think you are doing a sweet thing by spending some time with her this holiday!
