A Closet Full Of Clothes Lost

It’s kind of hard not to get angry when you find a closet full of clothes, most of them brand new, gone. I could not believe when I opened my Aunt’s closet at the Nursing Home and saw one outfit in it. There were empty hangars, her cane and a bag of socks. When I asked her CNA where her clothes were, I was told that they were in the laundry.

There is a big note stating, “Family Does Laundry”. But I was told that my Aunt was running out of clothes so they were put in the laundry. Why weren’t we called? My Aunt said it was OK. She quietly admitted that she did agree to it. So I couldn’t argue with that. But where were her clothes?

The CNA said that she was going to get them because they were cleaned by now. So I waited and waited. When she didn’t return after thirty minutes, I went looking for her. I learned that they couldn’t find her clothes. Most likely they were put in someone else’s closet.

Tomorrow my Mom and I are going there to sort this whole thing out. If there are no clothes there, it’s not going to be pretty.

OMG! I would of gone right off at the CNA even if your Aunty said it was ok. If you have been told the family will do it they should of rung before they did anything!! Good luck finding out with your mum!

Good Luck!!!! I had Mother’s name in housecoats and one day one was missing. I went to the laundry room (you can do this). Her housecoat was hang with the clothes to be put out and they had already put another lady’s name it in . I said “oh no, see Mother’s name.” All types of apologies came forth. Yes, I was doing Mother’ s laundry, had no reason to be picked up. I had a sign up also.

The facility that kept Mother had a different crew to gather laundry, the CNA’s did not do that.

We had this issue BIG TIME after we moved her from a smaller “home” to a larger facility. I can not tell you how many time’s we had to hunt for her things. How many times we would see the other ladies wearing mom’s things. We started to only bring enough items for 3 days, cutting down on missing items.

Some CNA’s don’t care and will grab items from other’s closets if they share a room or rather then dealing with putting it in the clothes bag they will send them off to be cleaned.
