Invitation List

My daughter, Lady Ali and my future son-in-law are getting down to the nitty-gritty of their wedding plans. They are choosing wedding invitations now that the invitation list is complete. They visited a store that specializes in invitations and stationery and were very disappointed. They felt rushed and did not like the selection they were shown.

They were especially shocked by the prices. For a guest list of only about 100 people, that is only 50 invitations, they were quoted about $1600. For that price they felt the cards should have been written in real gold ink!

When she called to tell me how upset she was, I suggested that she take a look at VistaPrint online. There she can make her wedding invites the exact way that she wants them. There are so many options for her to chose from. She can make them from scratch with their own design or photo. She can chose a pre-made design but make any changes she would like including fonts and colors, adding an image and changing the text.

The wedding colors are yellow and black and they are having a brunch so there are certain specifics that they want, especially when it comes to the wording of when the reception will take place so that people understand it is not a full dinner. One of their favorite images that they want included on all of their wedding items is an owl. Adding that anywhere on the invitation is simple.

There are various sizes and either flat or folded styles, matching envelopes, response cards and envelopes and even rehearsal dinner invitations. This is more of what they are looking for because they can work on the design themselves at their own pace.

As I looked at the wedding invitations I noticed that there were birthday invitations which we can use soon as my Mom will be 80 years old this year and graduation invitations as well. Lady Ali took a look at those because her fiance will be graduating college soon.

    $1600?!? WTH?

Sigh. And I remember thinking with my digi business that $10 per invitation might be a bit steep. But they were custom designed with the couple’s photos and each was placed in in a beautifully matched tin with a mailing box, etc. They were so pretty.

I loved doing stuff for weddings. Brides were always so excited!

When hubby and I got Re married on our first anniverssy I made up my cards at Hallmark, I added ribbon and rose stamps to them and they were beautiful. I am sure you can do the same with Vista prints too.
