Kissimmee, Florida is perhaps best known for theme parks like Walt Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios. There’s also lots of water parks like Wet and Wild and tons of attractions like Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum, Titanic The Experience and Medieval Life. But there’s a whole other side to Kissimmee that not many people know about.
Kissimmee is a historical city as well as a place to get back to nature. Along with this relaxing side there’s a frugal side too. Many of the sites are free.
I’ve been to Disney World more times than I can count. And Kissimmee is usually a part of our trip because we like to wind down. We’ve been to a few of the lakes that are hidden gems. We’ve gone on picnics and went fishing. Our favorite lake is Lake Tohopekaliga. We’ve visited downtown Kissimmee to go to some unusual shops and antique stores. We’ve also been to Old Town where there are all types of rides, stores, shows, restaurants and has a fair atmosphere. We’ve been to Gatorland and had a blast!
I’d love to see some more of the historical sites, especially the veteran related ones. I learned about the Bataan-Corregidor Memorial and that would be something interesting for me to see as my father was a WWII vet stationed in the Philippines.
Now you too can have a fantastic vacation in Kissimmee too, for free! Enter to win three (3) weekend getaways (3 days/2 nights) for two (2); and two (2) weeklong vacations for four (4). Drawings will be held on or around 4/1/09, 5/1/09 and 6/1/09. It’s easy to enter the Kissimmee Freedom to Enjoy Sweepstakes. I did and you should too!

Yippeeee… the contest is open to Canadians! I’m going to enter right now.
