Scanalog Review and Giveaway
February 21st, 2009 by Connie Roberts*CONTEST ENDED. WINNER ANNOUNCED.*
*Edited to add: My mistake! I thought the giveaway ended Friday instead of today, the 28th. Although comments have been deleted, I have all of them in my email and will use the ones that correctly entered to find the winner. I am sorry for the mix-up.
Before my new bedroom furniture arrived, I went through my hope chest and found a ton of school papers that I saved from my daughters. Some of them were over 10 years old. I couldn’t throw them away but I needed the room. A few days later I received Scanalog in the mail. This is a software program that allows you to scan and organize papers, magazine articles and catalog pages on your computer.
![]()
I was able to scan my daughters’ report cards, drawings, handmade cards and awards and upload them to my computer easily and quickly. Once that was done, I used Scanalog for those magazines I’ve been saving for ideas on remodeling the other rooms in my house, some ideas for Lady Ali’s wedding and the catalogs I had for items I want to buy when I can afford them.
Now the catalogs are in the recycling bin, the papers are in the trash and the magazines are at the nursing home where my aunt is staying for rehab. I’m going to tackle the newspapers I’ve saved with recipes I want to try one day next. I love being able to get rid of some of the clutter that is slowly taking over my house.
When using Scanalog, there are preset categories and subcategories. So you don’t have to worry about thinking of ways to organize your images. There’s even flexibility because you can create your own subcategories. Finding what you’ve saved is simple too. This is the ultimate resource and organizing program.
You can purchase this program for $49.95. After you register your purchase there is free support available.

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

You know I already knew I wanted this product because, like you, I hoard all those decorating and do-it-yourself home magazines for my dream decorating projects but I didn’t think about all the other uses until I perused the website.
The gardening tab caught my eye. I have a lay-out of my yard done by the landscaper who planted all my yard shrubs, bushes and plants. Each one is labeled so I know what I actually have in my garden. This little paper lay-out is badly abused and starting to shred. I always worry about losing it. I wouldn’t worry anymore if I had this software.

Connie, this software sounds ideal for so many ideas! I really hate to throw out things like report cards though – I still have my first one from 1958 – so you can tell I’m a packrat
I checked out a few categories and they all inspired me with ideas of what I could save, but the craft one would allow me to save all my quilting clippings which are getting ragged and falling out of my binders – oh, to be so organized would be wonderful! LOL
AND, I love that this contest is open to Canadians – thanks to you and Scanalog!

For Parenting, I’d save my son’s medical records
February 22nd, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I like ALL the categories and could file stuff in all but I’d probably start with the Parenting category because I have 2 filing cabinets worth of kid stuff I hate to lose BUT are taking up way too much space and clutter!

Scanalog looks and sounds great!
I could really use it for the Food category. I have recipes saved on my computer, recipes I have printed, cookbooks with bookmarks EVERY where.
Also I could use it for the Crafts categorty. I have bead TONS of bead magazines with all sorts of projects bookmarked. I could probably singlehandedly fill a landfill with my bead magazines!

I would save patterns in the craft category
February 26th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
Wow, what a great product. I would use the crafts category a lot. I am a papercrafter and am always tearing pages out of magazines and catalogs to use as inspiration, along with techniques, templates, etc. Of course, when I get ready to use them, I can’t find them, so this would really help me, and would also help declutter and organize. An awesome product.
thanks for sharing

This would be so great to organize. I hate throwing things out but I’m not as organized as I should be. This would help with both! I like the food and wine category so I could just scan all those random receipes and the home maintenance to keep manuals and copys of invoices for work we’ve done on the house. Thanks!

I went to the food and wine box. I would save all the random recipes I have collected over the years and are now stuffed into my cookbooks. I would love to be able to organize them in one spot.
