Bloggers Call To Action
One of my favorite bloggers and someone that I consider a friend is Drew of BenSpark.com. From reading his blog I’ve come to see his beautiful daughter Eva growing up, his Photo-A-Day (PAD) and the charities and other social events he promotes. He is very kind and helpful and has reached out to help me on various occasions.
I recently read his blog post about being a child and teasing other children. Even though I was teased mercilessly as a child and teen, in high school, I wanted to fit in and began to tease other students. It didn’t feel right after I did it, but while I did it, I felt like I was taking out my pent-up anger. I still feel guilty about this past behavior on my part. I know how much it hurt to hear unkind words, especially when a group of people were lodging them at me.
What Drew has suggested is a Call To Action as bloggers -
- Don’t take part in gossiping about other bloggers
- Don’t be negative about other blogs and the people behind them
- Visit 3-5 random blogs this week
- Leave a genuine comment
- Search the blog and tweet or stumble an older post
- Compliment the blogger on what they are doing well

I read his post. I thought it was great and that he had some great ideas that we should all implement.

I love this Connie! I just posted it on my blog also: http://robynsonlineworld.blogspot.com/2009/02/bloggers-call-to-action.html and will be doing all the things on the list this week!
I was teased a lot in school and it made me very insecure and angry. It also taught me a very negative way of getting attention by making fun of others. You’re so right – it seemed cool at the time, but it never felt good. And, those negative comments and times still stand out in my memory.
I haven’t read his post, so I’m off to do that now.
Thanks for passing this on, Connie.
