• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

February 4th, 2009 by Connie Roberts

Today I saw the Neurologist and begged for help with the way I’ve been feeling. I didn’t need to beg because he knew that I was sick. He could tell just by looking at me and hearing me speak.

My last blood test came back normal. That was my CBC. The only thing he could do now was have me slowly increase the Mestinon. After 4 weeks if I don’t feel any better I am to call him. The next thing is to increase the Cellcept, not good as this is one of the immunosuppressants I take. So I’m praying that the Mestinon works.

He’s also going to have me get my Potassium tested every 2 months and work with my Primary Doctor not the Nephrologist, since he said he can’t even comminicate with him. And after promising me that he would get my Potassium up to 4.0 it’s never been that high.

The upsetting thing was that he didn’t get the report from my Opthamologist about his concern with the eye pain I’ve been having. I’m sure that once he does though, that either I or he will get a call about what he recommends. It was frustrating that the info wasn’t there while I was.

I am to see him again in four months instead of six. Onto increasing meds now.

Oh Connie, I’m glad to hear your Doctor listened, and could tell without even asking that you need help. Hope the meds start working quickly :)

Hope all works out okay and sorry to see all the problems you are going through with communication between doctors. It’s enough to not feel well but when you have to follow up on your doctors it can be quite stressful. Take care.

I’m sorry to hear about your issues and hope everything turns out good for you. In the meantime, try to find something beautiful and smile. It can be a pretty flower or a happy memory, anything you can feel good about. Take care, my friend!

Shame that the doctors can’t just get to the bottom of it. It must really be making our life miserable.

I hope you find out what is wrong soon and you can back off the medicine instead of increase the doses. Do you know what has caused the low potassium levels?

Every single comment above expresses my feelings and thoughts for you, too! When they say doctors are “in practice” or “practicing” unfortunately, that’s sometimes too close to the truth. I’m just sorry you’re almost a guinea pig at this point! Prayers to you!

I hope everything gets sorted out for you. I have fibromyalgia so I can understand to a degree about the frustrations of doctors communicating with each other to try and get things right for you. Keep your chin up. Thinking and praying for you and those doctors who’re trying to help you.
