Improve Girls Self Esteem With Journal Buddies

When Peanut turned 10 in December, I gave her a plain notebook to be used as a journal or diary. It was decorated with butterflies. She was thrilled with it as she said that she wanted to start writing every day.

It sits on her desk right now, without a word written in it.

When I received Journal Buddies: A Girl’s Journal for Sharing and Celebrating Magnificence (2nd Edition) and showed it to Peanut, she grabbed it from me and ran into her room, closing the door behind her. Could it be that she would use this to write her inner-most thoughts, to share her dreams, to help her through the difficult times of growing up?

journal-buddiesYes, yes and yes! Peanut has used Journal Buddies because she, “likes that she can write with a friend who tells me what she likes about me and because I get to draw.”

Each book is signed by the author, Jill Schoenberg, and provides information on how to use the journal, a word for each day that inspires the writer to think about positive aspects of her personality. The Dove Foundation has given this book the Dove Family Approval Seal for helping girls gain self esteem. By sharing with friends (a girl can involve a pet, family member or an imaginary friend too) their positive traits, it helps girls feel better about themselves.

There is also a boys journal available too and other books such as Craft Projects for Kids and How to Tell Stories to Children that are included with your Journal Buddies if purchased through the online store.

I’m glad she found a journal that she likes. I can see where that one would be more inspiring than a plain one.

Oh that sounds awesome. I could never keep a diary because my sister would read it and tell mum all the naughty things I got up too… It would of been nice to have something liek that back in my day lol. It might of help me gain confidence.
