Using A Scooter

About six years ago when I was first diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis I was very weak and unable to do much walking at all. I had tried using a cane but it didn’t help me enough. My husband would have to push me in wheelchair but I hated feeling so dependent on him. My neurologist prescribed a scooter for me and I was able to do so much more because of it. I could go to the mall, the grocery store and even to Disney World again.

scooterI had a friend who had multiple chronic illnesses who had a Medicare wheelchair. When she saw my scooter, she asked her doctor for a prescription for one also. The Scooter Store helped her to get one like mine since she had tried it and was comfortable using it. They helped with her paperwork and and shipped her scooter to her home.

I’d like to get a ramp to make it easier for Hubby to take my scooter out of our van. The Scooter Store even provides ramps and other mobility devices.

  3. I don’t own a scooter, but I have used one when I needed it and found it to be so helpful. My last trip to Disney was when I was still living in FL and we had friends coming to meet us there just before Christmas. I had been hospitalized, and got released on Friday. We were due to meet on Monday. I thought I would have to cancel the whole thing. Instead, I let my pride go and called and found out about renting a scooter for my stay. I am SO glad I did it. Once I got over my initial uncomfortableness, it made everything so much easier for me. I could do things I would never have been able to do without it.

I am so glad you embrace your scooter and use it to help you live your life to its fullest!
