Doctor’s Appointment with More Concerns

I can’t seem to catch a break lately. I made an emergency appointment with my Opthamalogist because my eyes are so dry that they hurt. I have a chronic illness called Sjogren’s Syndrome (show-grins) which causes dry eyes, dry mouth and dry skin. I have two punctal (tear duct) plugs in my eyes to keep the tears that I am producing inside my eyes and every once in a while they come out. I had a feeling this happened again.

I was right, the right eye plug was out. So my doctor put another one in and hopefully this will be the answer the dryness. While I was there, I mentioned the headaches I’ve been having and how they are always causing pain in my eyes, one at a time, never at the same time.

He ended up doing a ton of tests on me but is pretty concerned about this. He said it doesn’t sound like migraines to him. He is going to fax a letter to my neurologist to tell him about his concerns. And he wants me to just come in to his office the next time I have one of these episodes. He wants to test the angles of my eyes in case I need laser surgery.

He doubts that is the problem as my tests were normal today, but he wants to see my eyes for himself when it’s happening. He said this can be anything from just sinus problems to a thyroid problem. When I told him about the potassium issue, he really got concerned. Again his began thinking about my thyroid.

I am not going to worry about this as this has happened to me before. And maybe this might be the way to find out what is really going on with me.
