I actually did some thinking today. Well, I got some advice and used my noggin to follow it. Instead of waiting until my neurologist’s appointment on February 4th, I called his office to tell them how badly I feel. I got a call back within the hour and was told to increase the medication I take for Myasthenia Gravis, Mestinon.
I’m taking 120 mg at 3 PM instead of 90 mg. Then if I feel like I need to increase it tomorrow at my 9 PM dose, I can do that. Today, I felt a bit better after the 3 PM dose but it was wearing off at 6 PM. Tomorrow I’ll try increasing the 9 PM dose and see how that goes.
This is one of the reasons that I am so pleased to have the neurologist I do. I can call and get help over the phone. He knows that after having MG for almost 6 years that I understand the symptoms and can report what is happening to me. Since his office is in St. Petersburg, he is willing to work with me on the phone.
I’m hoping that I’ll be feeling better soon with this medication change.

What a great doctor-glad you put your thinking cap on and I hope it pays off soon.
Now that’s a great doctor to be able to call and get instant care. Hope you’re feeling better!

I love a doctor who trusts YOUR instinct about your own body.

Good job on calling! It’s definitely always good to follow your instincts. Doctor’s are not always the best in scheduling appointments according to when your body needs them. I hope you feel better soon.

Thats a sign of a good doctor, one that will work with you and LISTEN to you.

Thanks Corrin, I’m feeling a bit better. He’s my favorite doctor and is known nation-wide for caring for people with MG.
There’s not many of those doctors like that around any more CJ. I’m blessed to have him.
Sadie, go through the MDA to see my doctor and there’s only certain times that I can see him. That’s one of the reasons he’s so good about taking phone calls.
Thanks Karen, I hope so too. Your kindness means a lot.
Perfect description of my doctor Lisa.
I’m hoping that my good doctor can get to the bottom of this problem too Shirley. Thanks for your concern.
