I slept in today as I couldn’t fall asleep last night and then slept poorly. When I learned that there was the Obama Inaugural Celebration only on paid channels I wanted to go back to sleep. I began watching it on CNN, but realized that I wasn’t going to see the concert just the speeches. We don’t have any “extra channels” so I figured that was it.
I called my Mom to tell her that she could see the concert and learned the channel she was watching it on. For some reason, I switched to that channel. I was so surprised to see that it was free for us today. I don’t know if it was because of the concert or what, but I got to see the entire concert.
I’m not sure who to thank, so I’ll say thank you to HBO and to Brighthouse, the company that provides my cable too. Thanks for letting me sing along to U2, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Jon Bon Jovi, James Taylor, Garth Brooks (one of my favorites, another surprise for me), Mary J. Blige, and more.
It was such a fantastic concert. The readings and the historical photos and movies were touching. I can’t wait for the Inauguration.
This will repeat again tonight, so see if you can watch it too. Let me know if you got to see this for free.

I saw the HBO special last night too. I think I am just going to cry out of pure joy for the next 24-48 hours.
Hope is high…but realistic.
It’s just that gut feeling I have that I believe has never been wrong.

Jen, I cried again as I watched the Martin Luther King celebration today and how much history is changing.
