No Books But Blankets Instead

What a day! Peanut wanted to go to school today to take part in the Books and a Blanket event at her school. She had her book and winter blanket picked out and packed in her bookbag, but she began to feel sick last night.

This morning when she woke up there was no way she could go to school. She was feeling sick to her stomach, couldn’t eat and was exhausted from not sleeping last night. This stomach thing has been an ongoing problem and we have an appointment with her Allergist tomorrow for food testing and a Pediatric Gastro doctor the end of this month. I usually send her to school but today was different. I could tell that she was “really” sick.

My Mom’s been sick for a few days with a stomach virus, so sick that I had to drive her to the doctor and to get her blood work done the next day. She was so weak and feeling dizzy that I wouldn’t let her drive. When I saw Peanut this morning I thought of my Mom. She looked pale and had the green around the edges look.

I hated that she missed the fun today but I didn’t want her to push herself going to school and have the possibility of other children getting sick from her.
