• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • No Dogs For Us

January 11th, 2009 by Connie Roberts

Lots of people believe that if you don’t like dogs that there’s something wrong with you. Well, go ahead and think that about me if you wish. It’s not that I don’t like all dogs, just dogs in my home, dogs that jump on me or slobber on me or dogs that smell.

Hubby and Peanut are dog lovers and want a dog. They’ve wanted one for a long time and ever since I’ve been telling them, “No Way.” I know it seems mean but another reason I’m against this is that Peanut doesn’t help take care of our cats or our fish. I believe that she has to learn responsibility about caring for our current pets before we even consider any new pets.

Plus one of our cats, Little Bit is getting older and his Vet bills are increasing. Since we’re trying to be frugal we don’t need any extra expenses of getting a new pet. The cost of dog supplies is way too much to be considering now. Yeah, that excuse works too!

Totally agree. DH and I are among those that are cat lovers. Add to your list that you have to clean up their poop & the fact that they bark… We have at least a million reasons why we’re sticking with cats.

You sound like me. My husband desperately wants a dog. I DON’T want one…ever! So I keep putting my foot down when he starts begging.

Tracey, yes the cleanup is not on the top of things that I want to do list!

    6. Connie Says:

Natalie, maybe we’ll have to stick together on this one!

    7. Connie Says:

      Thanks for admitting that Jade.

    8. Connie Says:

Tess, that would be about the only way I’d give in is with a little dog, but it would still take a lot. Don’t tell my dd and husband though, OK ;o)

we are cat people. everyone else in the family are dog people and they always have to get home to let the dogs out, or the dog needs this or that. our cats are so much more easy, but very affectionate and fun and they play just as much as dogs and greet us at the door, etc. The only bad thing is the fur – ugh – but the rest makes up for that.

Robyn, our cats are so lovable too. And it’s so easy to take care of them, especially the cat box part.
