Back Home Updates

We had a great time at Disney celebrating the New Year and spending time with my family. My in-laws had a connecting room at the Shades of Green and Lady Ali and Buttah spent some time with us and went out to dinner on New Years Eve.

My in-laws hadn’t been to Disney World in years and were shocked to see all of the changes. In fact they didn’t recognize much of anything. It was fun seeing them looking at things with a child-like view. They visited some of the older attractions at the Magic Kingdom and we got them to go to a few newere ones too.

My older daughter and future son-in-law had a party to go to for New Years Eve, but did me the favor of going out for a late dinner with us. We had a long wait to be seated but they were fine with it. We had a nice meal and lots of laughs.

When it was time for them to leave, it was time to say goodbye as they would be flying back home to Kansas on New Years Day in the early AM. I hugged them tightly and kissed them. I whispered that I loved you many times but I didn’t cry….until they left.

It was as if the air was sucked out of the room when they left. It was hard to breathe. I don’t know when I’ll see them again, but I know that they are happy, healthy and doing well. I just keep praying and calling and emailing.

We arrived home yesterday and I was worn out. It was probably all the emotions I went through, but it was worth it and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.

Karen, It’s difficult being a Mom but it’s also the best “job” in the world.

I think I know a bit of what you’re going through as I’m sure that I shall be feeling the same way when I put Jamie on the plane to go back to Florida tomorrow. It’s been so nice having her here (especially with being able to have some alone time with her while Amanda was at her friend’s) and I’m really going to miss her when she’s gone.

It doesn’t matter how many time I put her on the plane, it still leaves me feeling hollow inside and I don’t think I will ever get used to it.

So true Sophia, it is better to think of it as “see you later”.

Linda, I can’t imagine how you do it all the time. It must be so tough for you.
