In my best Regis Philbin voice, “Things are outta control here!” In just a few hours things went from fantastic to real shaky over here. As I was taking care of paying some bills online, I noticed that a check that was due to come in like clockwork didn’t.
I can’t go into details, but Hubby and I thought we had a lot more money than we actually do right now. So after shopping for Christmas gifts, for Peanut’s birthday gifts getting a speeding ticket, and then filling up on all of our medication refills to “save” money before the big price increase that will start next year, we’re plain broke.
I did so well with budgeting but it doesn’t matter much now. We’re doing everything we can to earn some money. I’m selling items on Craigs List. We’re probably going to sell some of our gold jewelery too.
We’ve learned two big lessons – We need to have a lot more money in savings for emergencies and we need to be sure we have the money before we put things on our credit cards.
We’ll still have a great Christmas because there’s so much more to it than money.

Connie, I hope things work out for ya’ll! We are in the same boat right now and it is not fun at all!
Connie, I am praying for you and your family. I understand completely what you are going through. This past month when it rained it poured on us financially with all the vehicles breaking down twice each in the same month. I agree with Dore that it is not fun at all.
Dore’, I knew something was going on from your blog. God will get us through this as difficult as it seems right now. Praying for you & your family too.
Shirley, thanks for being there for me. I know you’ve had it worse than me and that’s another thing to remember as we struggle. There’s always someone much worse off than I am. I have so much to be thankful for but getting a shock like that was hard. I’m doing much better today though!

Somehow I don’t think that Regis Philbin has the worries of the rest of us mere mortals!
There is nothing worse than financial problems but it seems like there are so very many of us that are going through them and like things are only going to get worse at the rate things are going.
I sure hope that check you were hoping for came in and that things are little better. And you’re absolutely right – Christmas is about so much more than gifts and buying things for people. So much more!

Thanks Linda for your comforting words. The check isn’t there but money is coming through in other ways. Our bills will be paid and we’re counting our blessings. There’s so many people unemployed, homeless and hungry. So focusing on my blessings instead.
