I call myself a Queen, Autoimmune Queen, Chronic Illness Queen and Brain Fog Queen but I am by no means a Domestic Queen. And one of my biggest challenges is cooking. Before getting sick, I could whip up a meal in no time. Even if I didn’t have something planned, I’d find food in the cupboards and slice and dice and there would be a delicious dinner in no time.
That’s why I was so grateful to Family Review Network for the opportunity to try out an eBook called a Month of Meals. I need a lot of help in the department of meal planning, recipes that are easy to follow and grocery shopping.
The Meal Plan is very detailed with information on:
- Healthy Eating – not just low fat foods but good food to keep our bodies healthy
- Saving Money on Meals – keep a budget of grocery bills for one month to see how much you spend and then learn to save by shopping with coupons, buying generic brands, etc.
- The Meals – including what staples to keep on hand all the time, recipes, variations for meals, what to do with leftovers, etc.
- Lists – grocery shopping lists for each meal, staples and other items, average cost of various groceries to use as a comparison when shopping, healthy foods within food pyramid (updated one from University of Michigan), chart to keep track of foods you and family are eating that goes along with pyramid, etc.
My favorite part of the Month of Meals is the variety. Some of the recipes that are easy to make and are delicious is the Chicken Pockets, Meat and Potato Quiche and Cream of Carrot Soup. The creativity used for leftovers is excellent too. I also enjoyed the information on how important food is to your health. As someone with health issues this really brought the message home to me.
Month of Meals author, Jaimie Ussher has done a great deal of research that is worthwhile for any woman who wants to keep her family eating healthy, her household running smoothly and her budget for groceries kept to a minimum.

Nice! I’m such a list maker myself.
Sounds like a good one…although I wonder how long it would be before I fell off the monthly meal planning bandwagon…I’ll do weekly but never done it monthly as I’d never know what to make so far in advance and what if I wasn’t in the mood later in the month for the item I planned? But still worth a read.

Barb, I knew you would love this!
Farrah, this plan is very easy to use and you can just do a weekly plan if you’d like. It is actually broken up by week.
Do you know that as long as I have been subscribed to your blog this is the first post I got your title? LOL It is from my MS inspired brain fog, I’m sure
At least we can laugh.
