Home Security Systems
Feeling safe at home is top priority for me and my family. Having a home security system helped us feel secure when we would punch in those numbers on the keypad knowing that an alarm would go off if anyone tried to break into our home or if any of us had a medical emergency we’d just have to use the portable keypad to get us assistance right away.
When we would leave home we knew that our belongings and more important, our pets were safe too. Monitored home alarm systems help keep the bad guys away. If there was a fire, the Fire Department would be notified immediately too.
We had lightning strike our alarm system a while ago and with so many bills to catch up with and our daughter’s wedding coming up we still haven’t replaced our old security system. Every time we go away on vacation I am so worried about something happening to our home. Even though we tell our trusted neighbors, there is nothing like having 24 hour, 7 day per week monitoring of our home.
We also lost out on the savings we once had from our homeowners insurance by having a security system in place. This is one of the top priorities for us to take care of after the wedding is paid for. Having peace of mind is worth it.

I saw that on Twitter but was so busy blogging to get my other work done I couldn’t tweet about it.

we have one and I am so thankful that we do … it made going on vacation last week a little less stressful.
Of course, it helps to remember to disarm it after you enter the house. Nothing like having the bejeebers scared out of you 46 seconds after you walk in your front door.

I use our security system every day, even if I’m going out for a few minutes. One of our neighbors houses was broken into in the middle of the day while one of our other neighbors was outside doing his lawn!! Thiefs have a lot of nerve these days and nothing seems to deter them! Sometimes if I’ve seen one of those freaky 20/20 or Dateline shows where a child was kidnapped, I’ll even leave the alarm on the stay setting when I’m home alone with the kids.

Yes Andrea, good advice! Kinda scary to walk in your own home just to hear sirens going off.

Helene, I did the same thing when we had our alarm system. Especially when my dd was a baby.

In our new house we don’t have a security system hooked up. We did in our old house though. The thing that always scares me about our house is that we have a sunroom with an entire wall of 10 floor to ceiling windows, how easy would that be to walk up on the deck, bust the window and walk right in. Before the sun room was built the door to the sunroom was the door to outside, so we do lock that door, but it’s pretty old and definitely wouldn’t stop anyone who really wanted to get in.
And oh my word, I didn’t know you had a daughter old enough to get married! I would have never guessed.

Worrying about your house and personal property during a vacation certainly doesn’t bring you a mental holiday. A home security system is a great idea. But have you considered a video-driven solution? It’s an easy way to track your loved ones and belongings, without waiting for that unfortunate call from fire or rescue squads after a break-in has occurred. We’re launching a product called Archerfish and it allows you to be more proactive in protection your home and the ones you love. It’s Mobile Video Intelligence in the palm of your hand.
