Church and Then Some

We had such a nice Sunday so far. When we woke up it was quite cold, probably in the mid 40′s but we got out of our warm beds and got off to church. We arrived just a few minutes late (I swear I’ll be late to my own funeral) but were quickly seated after the prayer.

The songs were uplifting and the choir was just excellent. The children go up for their children’s sermon and are adorable. Every week one child brings in a shoebox with an item that is a surprise for our Pastor. He then tries to tie it into his sermon on their level. It’s called Sermon in a Box. Today the item was dental floss!

The sermon was about the resurrection and how we must believe in the truth of it in order to be Christians. Of course tackling an issue like that is quite time consuming so the sermon went a bit long but it was important for us to hear.

It’s getting to that time where a lot of our members leave to be with family for the holidays. But the snowbirds will be coming badk here soon. All in all it’s been a great day and I expect it to continue this way. Hubby has goulash cooking in the crock pot which hits the spot for today.

What have you been doing today? Have you had a good weekend so far?

We were almost late for church today. It was just a nice quiet day here. I quilted a little and read blogs. We went out for a steak this evening so we wouldn’t have to do dishes. Our refrigerator is broken. Hopefully it will be fixed tomorrow.

I heard about your refrigerator, what a shame! But it’s an excuse not to cook I guess. Glad you had a good day too. Sundays seem to be one of the best days of the week.

We had a nice day too. I enjoyed hearing about your “sermon in a box”, that is quite creative. Today was the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Catholic Church, and the last Sunday of Ordinary time, meaning next Sunday we begin Advent!! I came home and found my Advent wreath so I will be ready next week! I took my mom out to some local shops that a new girlfriend showed me yesterday. We really like living in our new place, and despite the bitter cold, we had a good day!

    Miss ya!

I thought I had it bad with my blog issues. No internet! I’d be living at the library where they have internet access for free :) Enjoy your time off from classes.

I really need to get back in the habit of attending church services every week. We had a very busy weekend with birthday and going away parties, soccer games and craft shows to get to. I need another weekend to recover from my weekend!

Believe me I know how busy life can be Lori. I do miss church sometimes but then things just don’t feel quite right. You do so much it’s hard to keep up with you :)
