• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Groovy Ruby Rocks and Rolls

November 12th, 2008 by Connie Roberts

Groovy Ruby is a group of young singers who know how to rock and roll. There are 5 tween girls who are look like your neighbors. There’s no heavy makeup or too sexy clothes. I like their style. I like their music too. As their site says: “The Monkees and Beach Boys collide with the Go-Gos…in middle school.” Too funny!

So I liked them and their music, but would my 9 year old feel the same way? When I gave her the Strong, Lovin’ And Fun CD to listen to, the first thing she said was that she liked the name and the logo of the group. I peeked at while she was listening and I saw her head bopping up and down. She’s got good taste, like her Mom!

I asked her what her favorite songs were and she said that she liked them all, but she really liked, “Don’t Forget About Me” and “Too Cool For School”. She said that the music made her want to dance and the words were easy to understand. She liked that the girls were “…like me. They dress like me and their hair is like mine.”

This is good, decent music with a message. It’s not overpowering where it’s in your face, but a tween or teen can get that there is something there besides the beat. Check out Groovy Ruby’s site and look at videos and take a listen to some of their songs too. You can purchase the CD and some other GV items too. I’m hoping that this group makes it to the top.

Thank you Family Review Network for the opportunity to review this CD.

I have a 9 year old who loves to listen to music now. Now I’ll need to check this group out too and it just might be a great Christmas gift for her this year. :-)

There’s a way to listen to the music right from the site Farrah. Check it out!
