• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Veteran’s Day Off From School and Work

November 11th, 2008 by Connie Roberts

Today was a day off for both my husband and Peanut. It’s Veteran’s Day. It felt a bit odd to have them home on a Tuesday instead of a Monday but I guess that celebrating on the actual day is the better way to honor our veterans. This way we’re not just taking a three day weekend and forgetting about the real reason for this holiday.

As our soldiers are still in harm’s way in Iraq and in Afghanistan and we have so many newly returned vets from both wars who are disabled in some way, we need to keep them in our hearts and in our prayers. I hope that this day was spent honoring them and those from past wars. Did you fly your flag, attend a parade, or say thank you to a veteran?

I know that some of us still had lots of food, a picnic, spent time with family and friends and maybe did a little drinking too. That’s OK too. No need to sit around and mope all day. I sure hope that you didn’t overeat and need to use Orovo detox though.
