Sound like she has it down! I taught fifth grade in an inner city public school for several years, before coming home for awhile to be with my own kids. I can testify that the writing DOES change. Students have to know the TYPES of writing and what is required of each.

Our elementry school is also focusing on writing this year. It amazes me what a first grader is learning and doing these days!
