Advertising in your local paper or weekend paper in the garage or yard sale section. Some papers it is free or a low fee to put the ad in there. Signs with big lettering for the address that can be seen from a vehicle driving by is important. Use bright neon colored poster board for signs. Also, selling cans of cold soda pop at yard sales are a plus.:) Kids like to help sell those.
