• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Dreaded Shopping Trip

October 1st, 2008 by Connie Roberts

After Bible Study today I have to go shopping. The kind of shopping that I dread, buying stuff for the house, groceries and the odds and ends that mean going from one store to another. I try to stick to one area and have a list so that I’m not wasting gas. I also go with my Mom so that we help each other out.

It still doesn’t make it fun or even bareable. We know we have to look for sales and have our coupons out. I’m picky about certain groceries so I won’t buy them at the big box stores. That means going to a grocery store like Publix for meat and produce. We also need to stop at other stores for small things. Mom is having trouble with her cell phone, so we’ll be at the the store to settle that. She needs me to take care of that. Peanut saved up money for a video game that we pre-ordered. It is ready for pickup today, so I’ll be going to that store too.

Then there’s always unloading the groceries when we get home. At least we have a system. We just take out the things that need to be refrigerated and leave the others for my poor Hubby when he gets home from work. I’ll need a long nap after all of this.

I hate errand day too – what a waste of time, running around to the bank, the post office, the movie rental, the liquor store (oh, no – that one’s not so bad I guess) and the grocery store – I’d much rather be home blogging!

When my kids were pre-teens I left the non-perishables in the car for them to carry in after school – it worked GREAT. Now that they are grown up and not around much, my husband and I share the errands then he carries most of the ‘stuff’ in while I put it all away.

      Life does get easier :)

Oh do I understand what you mean!! All of the little everyday things that are easier for people who don’t battle chronic health issues become so much more challenging for us! I am lucky enough to live somewhere that has grocery delivery, so that saves me A LOT of time and energy, but I know that not everyone is so lucky. I use Peapod delivery and there are in lots of places in the country if that helps anyone else.

I have my own doctor’s appointment today as well as two to get my mother to, so I will be needing a nap myself later. Good luck today with everything!
