• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • My Baby Is Sick

September 22nd, 2008 by Connie Roberts

It’s just about a month into school and Peanut is already home from school sick. She has terrible allergies. Basically she is allergic to everything especially the outdoor things like trees, grass, pollen, etc. She’s also allergic to dust mites, cats (which we have), mold and more.

When she gets a cold she suffers even more than people without allergies would. So poor baby started coughing, sneezing and getting congested yesterday. Last night she couldn’t even sleep because of being so congested.

I basically knew last night she wasn’t going to make it to school. She was worn out from not sleeping. She was hurting from coughing. She felt miserable.

Today she spent most of the day in bed, on the couch or sleeping. She doesn’t have much of an appetite either. I’ve tried to tempt her with everything I can think of like ice cream, pb & j sandwiches, home made chicken soup. I was even willing to make her a sweet potato casserole. But all I was able to do was to get her to drink lots of liquids.

Now to figure out what to do for tomorrow. Hubby and I will see how she does tonight and then how she feels in the morning.

Mine have been sick since school started a month ago. Sorry to hear about your little girl, hope she feels better soon. Stupid communicable diseases. :-(

      Connie,

I hope she starts to feel better soon. Seems like the beginning of the school year always brings illness with it. I am sure with mom’s TLC, she will improve quickly!

when my baby is sick I tried to avoid the hospital to be warded if just common flu. But when she is not eating really frighten me and after that thinking of ward again. When my baby is sick automatically I can cook many things delicious but in the end all the food consume by my hb..

I hope she is already feeling better. It’s awful when our kids are sick. Lack of appetite is a normal thing, just don’t insist too much, she will end up eating well in a few days.

Honestly, drinking is probably the best thing for her.

Have you tried Zyrtec? My daughter is allergic to the same stuff as yours, and gets wheezy and coughing fits alot. Zyrtec kills it all.

Sorry I’m late in posting this but I have a couple of suggestions that might make her more comfortable. When my daughter gets that cough we put Vick’s vapor rub on her feet at night under some socks. Quiets the cough right down. Don’t know exactly why it works better than on the chest but it does.

Also, we were battling allergies big time until we talked to our chiropractor about it. An adjustment can really help but we’ve found the supplements he gives us to be the most help. If we run out or skip a day the allergies are back in no time. Just something you might want to consider.

Hope Peanut is feeling better. I hate it when they’re sick.
