• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Setting Up Office

September 18th, 2008 by Connie Roberts

Working at home is an awesome opportunity for lots of people but for moms it really helps out.  No worries about childcare, having the flexibility to be there for your child when he’s sick or when there’s a special event at school. There’s so many positives about being a WAHM.

When you make the plunge or if you’ve already done so it’s important to have a good set up at home, one that is comfortable for you and one that makes your work space be just that. Your home office should be a place set aside for you to do business. It’s best to have Office Furniture so that it looks professional not only to help you with your own attitude but with your family and friends as well. If you are in your work space it means you are working!office desk

Something else to think about when you set up your work space is that you will be spending a lot of time there. When you begin a new business you can expect to be working long hours to get it off the ground. So think ergonomics. Office Desks that don’t cause discomfort and have extra room to move around are ideal. You may want to consider space saving furniture if you are using a room that doubles as something else though. There’s also desks that blend into your home furniture or have drawer fronts that match your room colors. And don’t forget about corner desks. Those are perfect for saving space.

Of course keep in mind that you’ll need room for your computer and your other supplies. So measure what will take up space before you buy your Computer Desk. I’ve made the mistake of buying a desk without doing this. I still struggle with not having enough room for my desktop, files, modem, speakers, printer and other supplies. I ended up having to purchase a file cabinet, a printer table with a cabinet for more files and plastic containers, etc. Planning and measuring will save you headaches, time and money.

Getting your home office set up is a good first step to getting your home business started. Looking for office furniture that helps you and others view you as the professional you are makes the same point as putting up a Do Not Disturb sign when you’re sitting at your desk working. Keeping your home life and business life separate helps you to keep your work and family time in check and to create boundaries that you may find necessary.
Finding the right furniture that helps you stay efficient and get your work done as well as keep you from being uncomfortable is a plus.

Planning with any type of business is key. Don’t forget this important step so you can move along with all of the other things to get to work.
