Daughter Now Church Member
August 17th, 2008 by Connie Roberts
What a joy filled day today! Our youngest daughter, Peanut who is 9 became a communing member of our church today. She had expressed her desire to become a member a few months ago. I began to watch her closely to see if she was ready.
Was she showing more maturity in her walk with Jesus? Was she praying and turning to God in times of need and thanksgiving? Was she wanting to do good works because she wants to share the love she feels for God or to get something in return? Was she talking to her friends about Jesus and inviting them to church? Did she understand what communion really is?
When I decided that she had matured in her walk I allowed her to request membership. Our church does not look at age, but maturity and understanding and more importantly depth of faith. So Peanut met with our Pastor first after reading a book about church membership. Then she met with him and an Elder. She was able to demonstrate her understanding and desire to serve Jesus.
Today she stood before our church family and agreed to become a member of our church. My mother attended our church to see this very important event in Peanut’s life. It meant so much to all of us. This is one of the most important days of her life and of mine too.

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.
