Carried Away

Peanut and I did some back to school shopping for the supplies she’ll be needing for this year. I did my homework (no pun intended!) and had coupons, my list and the store’s coupons all ready to go. There were two household items on the list but that was it.

I told Peanut that we were going to focus on the list and get our chore done and over as I knew the store would be crowded. We looked through the aisles of back to school supplies, had our coupons to be sure we got the correct items and were told we needed rain checks for a few.

Then we went off to find the aluminum foil and batteries I needed. As we walked through the store I found a clearance aisle. Very bad for me, the pack rat. The rules were gonna be broken by me now. And sure enough I started looking through bins of 3 for $3 goodies, 75% off garden decor, half price pony tail holders and lots of other things that I don’t need.

After Peanut realized there were no hair goodies she liked and no toys, she reminded me of my rule. Off we went to wait in line and pay for her supplies. It’s not a very good feeling to be reprimanded by a 9 year old.
