• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • The Doctor Was Right

July 21st, 2008 by Connie Roberts

check markI realized that I forgot to update you on what the new doctor has said about my kidney situation. He was right. I’m still not sure exactly which Syndrome I have but the medication he put me is working. For the first time since December of 2007 my Potassium level is normal. I began to feel better last week while at Disney. It was the third day (Tuesday) that I felt enough energy to venture out to the Magic Kingdom. I took it slowly and only stayed a short time.

I continued to take my medicine every 3 hours and to nap every day. I didn’t stay out in the heat too long. I was being very careful. The only thing that continued to bother me was that I would get cramps in my lower legs and feet. I also had a tingly feeling around my mouth. So today I had a blood test for my magnesium level. That could possibly be too high.

I am amazed that after all this time (I didn’t know it was this long actually) that I’m finally feeling better. How I wish that doctors would not try to diagnose something that is not their specialty, or put off something that has affected me so greatly. But I’m just happy that the answer has been found and I’m feeling so much better.

That’s great news. It’s really a relief when we finally find out what we suffer from and we start taking the right medication. I’m really happy for you

Sorry to hear about your kidney problems, mine don’t work either. The tingling around your mouth, sounds more like low blood calcium. I wound up with that after my thyroidectomy. Have them test your calcium serum levels. Let me know about the magnesium too. From what my doctor has told me, to much magnesium will just give you diarrhea.

@ Laura Thanks hun. It’s so wonderful to be feeling better. I can do some of the things I planned for the summer with Peanut now!

@ Mandy Thanks for your concern. All of the tests came back normal including calcium. So the only thing left to test was magnesium. I’m learning about this so thanks for the info. I have to call the dr’s office to get the results & will let you know.
