The other day when I was in Wallyworld I couldn’t believe that the “Back to School” section was already up and the shelves were filled. Here school starts on August 18th. Don’t you think this is rushing it a bit? It kinda angered me to see backpacks, looseleaf paper, folders, pencil cases and folders while there was still Fourth of July flags, and other summer items for sale too.
I’ve been slacking with Peanut about getting her to practice some Math she needs to work on. We talked about her getting online and looking through her old textbooks to practice multiplication and division. But we haven’t started yet!
Today we found some websites for her to get back into the swing of things. I also got some math games that I learned about from her school. This way it’s not only “boring” things she’s doing. I really don’t know how online math can be boring though as most of it is games. But I guess when you don’t want to do Math and it’s summer to boot, anything can be considered boring.

I believe it. I worked there and I swear I was so off when it came to seasons and what the time of year really was. School starts in June, Christmas starts in August and summer starts in February!

I don’t even want to have to think about Back-to-School stuff yet! Amanda goes back to NFA on September 3rd so that gives me a little time to try to save up for some school clothes and all that other stuff.

for the first time since i saw my first big wal-mart in the mid 80′s, I don’t have one near where i live. I don’t love in some rural backwater, far from it, but the local stores are so powerful here they have prevented wal-mart from getting a foothold.
I like being able to buy everything I need in one place, food, underwear, shoes, car tires, electronics etc etc, in fact I would gain a sense of satisfaction from having the most eclectic mix of items at the check out.
Car Battery, block of cheese, condoms, cell phone, toilet plunger, folding chair, etc. I’d even buy things just to have a contrast, like if I needed a toothbrush I’d buy a floormat for my car, or if I wanted a magazine I’d stock up on shoelaces.
I have a target now which is pretty close, location and in similarity to wal-mart, but target, of course doesn’t buy goods made by Chinese prisoners. i wonder if wal-mart will open a hospital part one day so you can get a kidney, a tv, a mop, hemoroid creme and a neopet all made in china!
