Yesterday, July 3rd I didn’t write a blog post which takes me out of the running for Blog 365. I made it this far but because I ended up in bed in pain, after going shopping (darn spending money!) and couldn’t make it to the office I ruined my chances to say that I accomplished my goal of blogging every day for a year.
I did take photos for the post I was going to write but that was as far as I got. My Mom had some time yesterday and was able to drive me to WallyWorld so I could get some things we needed for the house and some groceries. I was too sick to drive so I took her up on the offer. I even used a scooter to get around the huge store. My left leg started to hurt even though I wasn’t walking. By the time I got home it felt like electric shocks going up and down my leg. Then I started to get cramps in both feet and calfs.
I was exhausted and hurting. I ended up in bed hoping I could sleep but I just kept trying to find a comfortable position. Moving, twisting, turning, just stopping long enough to eat, hobble to the bathroom and swallow down my pills. My blog post was on my mind but I couldn’t walk across the house.
Somewhere in my memory I remember reading that if you didn’t have access to your blog that you could backdate your post. I swear that I took the photos yesterday. I was going to write about the dining room and how we’ve finished that room completely. The photos are of the wall of crosses we put up. I’ll go take a look at the rules for Blog 365 and see what I can do.
Edit: I found this info from Blog 365: “No internet? Write your post locally and post it once you are back on the grid.” and this “If you post offline work, consider changing the date on the post to reflect the day you actually created the content.”

I don’t know what system you use, but with Blogger, when you start WRITING your post, that is when they date it–even if you don’t post it. So, if I want a post to appear on Sunday, but start writing it on Saturday, Blogger will date it as Saturday even if I don’t even publish it until Sunday. So the idea of writing a lot of posts in advance (in case you get sick, like you did) unexpectedly, and then being able to post one of these spare ones, doesn’t work–at least in Blogger.
