It’s like the “old Florida” again. It rains every day around 4 PM. We’re not used to this. We’ve been getting rain every day now for over a month. Sometimes it rains even longer like today. It started to thunder and lightning around noon. The weather report said we’d be getting a bad storm. The strange thing is that there wasn’t any rain.
After shutting down my computer Peanut and I watched some TV. I made some calls and then I had to go the lab to have a blood test and drop off my plastic jug of pee. There’s not many people who can say that sentence. I’ll be doing it again tomorrow but I promise not to write about it again.
Anyhoo I was feeling a bit woozy and weak. But I had to get this done. I promised Peanut we’d stop at the library to get some DVD’s. We did that pretty quickly. I then had to pick up my new prescription. We made it back into the car just as it was raining again.
I just turned my computer back on and there’s another storm. This time it’s raining too. The drought isn’t close to being over here. I think it’ll take a few years of this kind of rain to end it.
This kind of rain has brought back memories when I lived near Ft. Lauderdale. Every day in the summer it would rain just as work was over. It would pour, thunder so loud and the lightning seemed to hit as close as it could without actually hitting my car. The streets would flood and I’d be sitting in a traffic jam for hours.
Things have improved in this area when it rains. We don’t have sewers but we have storm drains. They can usually handle most of the rain so the streets aren’t completely flooded, just partially!
Although Florida is known as the “Sunshine State” we’re getting used to a lot of rain again. We need it. So we take it.
