Today is Flag Day

Today, June 14th is Flag Day in the United States. This day is to commemorate the anniversary of the day when the Continental Congress adopted the flag as our national flag back in 1777. Flag Day is not a national holiday but a day of celebration of one of our country’s most notable symbols of patriotism.
On this day many Americans fly their flags with pride. Some areas of the country have parades or gatherings where the flag is raised, the Pledge of Allegiance is said and possibly the there is the singing of the National Anthem.
At our house we fly the flag with pride every day. I have always been proud of the flag and its significance.
Did you know that there is a Flag Code (of Conduct) and that it was adopted on Flag Day in 1923, the first Flag Day? Here is a link to the Code and more information.

Very nice post, Connie, and thank you! I was going to do something like this on my blog today but I just flat-out ran out of time. A lousy excuse I know but it’s the best one I’ve got and it’s true!
