Preparing For The Big Day

Now that Lady Ali is engaged we’re starting “the talk”. For those of you parents who haven’t been through wedding planning that means, discussing the budget, who’s paying for what, the date, the dress and all of the million of things that go along with a wedding.

Lucky for me, my daughter is not into big celebrations. She and Fiance want something small and informal but with their own personal touches. They’ve decided to change from getting married in Florida to getting married in Kansas. I’m not too happy about that, but it will be too difficult for Lady Ali to plan a wedding here from there. I get it but was hoping that it would take place here.

Another thing they’ve decided on is that they want to have a brunch for their reception. That’s a tentative decision. She’s looking at dresses already and small things like favors. We don’t know a date yet, but it will be sometime in late 2009 so far.

We’re realizing how much planning there is to do. With both Lady Ali and Fiance working full time and going to school full time it is going to be a bit difficult but we know it will work out. One of the things that is making it easy is using the internet as much as possible. I can see venues that they’ve looked at, cakes they’re considering, gifts they want and much more.

One of the websites I’ve suggested is Vista Print. They haven’t sent out engagement announcements. They can find those there. There’s also a big selection of wedding invitations. You can customize them, chose their designs or use your own photos. I almost forgot about shower invitations. Wow, there’s a lot that I haven’t thought about…

While I was browsing through their site I noticed the large selection of birthday invitations that can also be customized. There’s something for everyone!
