So to keep you updated on the progress of my church’s (Dayspring Church) Single Mothers Appreciation Day, there’s been a lot of work done today. Fliers have been made, a letter asking for donations from local businesses was written, the local TV station that advertises events for free has been contacted and the To Do list has begun. I located the volunteer sheet for church members so I’ll be updating that. Tomorrow I’ll be meeting Darlene at church so we can sit together and go over our plans and then possibly do some shopping.
We give out goody bags to both the mother and children that attend so we need to purchase bags. We’re getting together gifts for the mothers. We try to make up baskets to give to each mother. This year they may be smaller than normal but that’s OK. Pam, another member will be visiting businesses within the next few days to see about getting some donations for the baskets and bags.
We’re looking for two massage therapists who can offer chair massages to the mothers. And the local newspapers still need to be contacted. I’ll be calling them tomorrow to see if they want emails or will just take the information over the phone.
There’s still the lunch to plan and games for the children. We have a craft for them to make for their mothers. This way the mother gets something for Mother’s Day.
