• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • First Camping Sleepover

April 5th, 2008 by Connie Roberts

    camping tent
Peanut is growing up by leaps and bonds. Last night she had her first sleepover birthday party. Not only was it a sleepover but it was backyard camping too, which Peanut has never done.

At first she was excited, talking about it all the time. We shopped for the birthday gift and card and she got even more excited. We put the presents in the gift bag. Peanut wrote out the card. The next day was the party. Peanut told me that she wanted to call me to call the birthday girl’s mother to say that she’s afraid of the dark. I told her that she could tell her herself at the party.

The day of the party (yesterday) Peanut went to school. On the way, she asked me about what it was like to sleep in a tent. I told her about how much fun it would be. After school, we packed her clothes, pajamas, bathing suit and toothbrush, etc. Now she was getting nervous. I kept her busy.

When the mom came to pick her up, the other girls were already in the car. So Peanut put on a brave face and kissed me goodbye. Off she went!

This afternoon when she was driven home, she came in all happy and proud that she slept outdoors and had a lot of fun doing it. She told me about the night and how the girls all played together. Then she told me that she was tired and fell asleep soon after. I’m sure this is Peanut’s first experience and I’m sure there will be many more to come.
