• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • What Did You Say Doc?

April 3rd, 2008 by Connie Roberts

I got the results of my Pulmonary Function Test today. The Pulmonologist doesn’t have a nurse on staff any longer. I didn’t have my blood pressure or my weight (thank goodness!) checked. He didn’t go over my medications. He listened to my lungs. Put the oxygen meter on my finger and asked me how I was. I said that I was doing OK, having good days and bad days.

He then told me that my lung capacity was lower than last time. I told him that I had a cold in December and that I had a cough that lingered. I also said that I coughed when I laughed or just coughed for no reason. He asked if I was short of breath on exertion. I told him yes.

He said, “OK. Let’s change your PFT’s to every two years now.” What? I”m worse, but you’ll see my less often. You know that’s fine and dandy with me. I think I’d rather see you a lot less, like in never again.

I don’t want to look for problems, but let’s be real here, if my PFT’s are worse, why not monitor me more often? Now you know why I love doctors.
