My Mom has been talking about a trip to Europe this summer. She’ll be 79 years old. She’s in very good health but has lost two younger brothers in the last six months. She keeps saying that she wants to go on one last trip. This is quite upsetting to hear from her.
I know that she’ll take her sister with her. My Aunt has a lot of health problems and it really worries me that she’ll be going along. It’s not that I don’t want her to enjoy herself, it’s that I’m concerned that she’ll get sick or that my Mom having to care for her will be too much work for my Mom.
If this trip goes through I’d like to have a way to get in touch with my Mom. I know that the front desk staff of the hotels in Europe, or the tour director can assist her to make a call to me. But to give her more options I’d like to get a prepaid calling card for Italy so that I can reach her there and in the other countries she’ll be visiting. I’ll feel better being able to talk to her to see how she and my Aunt are.
I may buy her some phone cards to use herself and go over the directions with her before she leaves. This will save her money instead of having to rely on the hotel or tour director to help her. I can print the directions or type them up myself.

I wish I’d send my mom on a vacation…
