• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • Georgia Dome Tornado

March 15th, 2008 by Connie Roberts

Last night I was on Twitter and one of my Twitter buddies was at the Georgia Dome when the Tornado hit. How do you reply to a message that scares the crud out of you? I’m happy to say that she and her family are safe.

But why in this day and age were there no warnings that a tornado was headed toward the Dome? This is only my opinion and not based on fact, but perhaps the warning would have caused more harm than good. Imagine a huge crowd panicking. In fact they probably were safer inside the Dome than outside.

I can only imagine how afraid the people in that arena were, but I know how crowds react to alerts. Most often people will do anything to save themselves and their loved ones. There could have been a stampede of people pushing and shoving their way out. I’ve been in large crowds where there was just a rumor of something going wrong and it was scary to say the least. The Dome officials may not admit that they knew how bad the weather was turning but in the long run, the people ended up being safe inside.
