My daughter Peanut has a student in her third grade class that due to a severe medical condition cannot attend school. He has been homeschooled by his parents until this year. The school system has set up teleconferencing in his home and the classroom so that he is an active participant in the everyday activities of his class now including reading aloud, taking tests, being part of group activities and even going on field trips which take place on school property.
This has opened a new world to this student and to Peanut and the students in her class. I commend our School Board for purchasing video conferencing equipment to allow this unique opportunity to take place.
Peanut has been very touched by her classmate’s role in her studies. As a daughter of a mother with invisible disabilities she can relate to her friend’s health issues. She does consider him a friend even though she knows him through a screen with audio. She cheers him on as he does well with his school work and prays for him when he isn’t feeling well.
Lifesize is a company that provides some of the best technology to connect people in health care, global corporations and even government agencies. The cost for their equipment is very competitive. The company hopes that providing alternatives to travel can help conserve energy also.

that’s awesome that they can do this to include the student. I hate to hear about kids being ill
