• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

  • A Gift of Time

March 3rd, 2008 by Connie Roberts

Why is it so difficult to buy gifts for men? Even men you know very well, intimately as a matter of fact, like your spouse? Buying a gift for Hubby is really difficult. I should have added to our wedding vows that I don’t have to buy him any gifts for any occasion, ever. Sound like I’m serious?

His birthday is coming up soon and I haven’t a clue what to buy him. He never seems like he likes a gift. He doesn’t smile or get excited or tell me thank you like he really means it, and he always puts it away after he opens it, always.

When I ask him what he’d like he always tells me not to buy anything. This is his 45th birthday though so I want to do something special. I’ve been thinking about this now for a while and maybe I’ve come across a good idea.

He always wears a watch. He has a “good one” that he wears for formal occasions or just when we go out for dinner, etc. But he’s had it for over 11 years now. I was thinking of getting him a special watch for those very formal times. I’d put a note in the box that says something about my time with him is never enough. Corny, yes but it just seems like the thing to do.

Maybe a Seiko Watch is the way to go. On Bluedial.com there is a large selection of men’s watches from Seiko and other brands like Citizen, Cassio and Bulova among others. They offer free sizing and shipping. All of their original brand name watches are new. No need to worry about fakes or refurbished watches here.

I’m leaning toward the Seiko SKA373 Kinetic Streamlined watch with a tan dial. This is unique and scratch resistant. I think that when Hubby opens up this watch he’ll do more than just mumble thank you. I may be shocked at his response.

I’m sure your husband would be thrilled at his gift! I am under the impression that people normally will buy gifts that they themselves will like to receive. For years, my wife has been getting me wallets, ties and shirts, which I ‘put them away’. I, on the other hand, have gotten her watches, electronic organizers and other gadgets… you get the pictures.

Well, I have switched to getting her handbags and other accessories and she loved them! :p
