• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

    PFT

    March 31st, 2008

I had my annual pulmonary function test today. The respiratory therapist that did it was new but very nice. He was a bit talkative and so I am I so that made for an interesting breathing test!

I asked him if he had ever treated anyone with Myasthenia Gravis before. He told me that he had. He had worked in a rehab hospital for the VA. He went on to tell me about how I should be exercising. Yes I know that I need to move around as much as I can. But when he started talking about using weights and resistance and knowing how much weight to use, I started to think he was a little crazy. Did he get MG mixed up with some other disease?

With MG muscle weakness is caused by problems with synapses in the cells that control muscles. It’s not like I can make my muscles stronger by using weights. I was too tired to go into one of my teaching moments so I just let it slide.

I just wish that if someone in the medical field doesn’t know about something they’d be honest and say so. I don’t expect them to know all of the answers. Maybe it’s a pride thing?

Need A Vacation Before Our Vaca

    March 30th, 2008

Don’t think that I’m not excited to go to Disney. Are you kidding? Of course I am. I’m just feeling like my life lately has been a whirlwind and I’m hanging on by the skin of my teeth. Family emergencies, my always present health issues, Peanut’s school activities, Peanut’s activities outside of school, our church activities, continuing work on our home, etc. etc….

Most of it has been fun stuff. Some of it has been stressful stuff. I just feel a need to wind down and relax is all. I’d love to go somewhere quiet and peaceful like a visit to a Branson property before we go to our busy vacation at Disney.

The great thing though is that if I don’t get to relax before our trip, I can relax there. There’s always the pool and books and quiet places that we know about. We’ve been to the Parks a lot of times. So missing a day or two wouldn’t matter much.

    Spring Weather

    March 30th, 2008

    pool
It’s been crazy weather here in Florida. From what I’ve read and seen on the news it’s been crazy weather all over. It’s almost April and we’ve had some chilly temperatures the last few mornings. It’s been cold enough that we’ve needed sweaters. Usually by now spring is in full swing and we’re even feeling some summer temperatures.

I’m hoping that the weather starts to take a turn toward the higher temps of summer. We’ll be going to Disney World soon and I really want Peanut to be able to go swimming. Hubby and I go with her and swim a bit but mostly relax on the patio furniture near the hotel pool. She enjoys that as her wind down at the end of the day at the Parks. Then we can have a late dinner and she’s usually zonked out from all of the activity.

So here’s to warmer temperatures and soon!
