Supper Bowl

I don’t know a thing about football. I wouldn’t even have know today was Super Bowl Sunday but for Hubby telling me. I didn’t know what teams were playing until this morning when Peanut asked me who I wanted to win, the Giants or the Patriots.

I’m not a sports kind of lady. I like going to baseball games or hockey games. There I can get into the excitement of things. And there I can eat. It’s all about the food for me. I love the hot dogs and fries and nachos with cheese. Give me some of the fresh squeezed lemonade and I’m sitting pretty. If you can find me roasted peanuts I’ll be quiet for the whole time I’m cracking them open and eating them. And don’t forget some cotton candy too.

After church today I fell into a deep sleep and slept for hours. Hubby woke me to let me know it was about an hour until “game time”. And so? I got the hint after a few sleepy minutes though. He had the grill going and soon we were eating some marinated lamb. I know that’s not normal Super Bowl food but we wanted something different. Out came his famous macaroni salad. If I tell you the recipe I’ll have to kill you, so let’s avoid the blood, OK? We even had grilled zucchini. This is my party so don’t be thinking that I can’t have some squash.

But the best was saved for last. This is our annual tradition. Peanut and I (it used to be Lady Ali and I) make a football shaped cookie for dessert. I just had to share the pictures of what great bakers we are. We may be getting calls from the Food Network soon.

The weird looking thing at the top of the cookie sheet is Peanut acting like Richard Nixon or a rapper or a hippie. She takes on many personalities, all of them are nice though, except for Nixon when she expects me to check for wire taps on our phones.

No there was no alcohol consumption on my part either during the making of this food, the eating or after. I’m on too many drugs to drink.
