• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

    Family Involvement Conference

    February 28th, 2008

I attended the 13th Annual Family Involvement Conference in Orlando today. This is for Title 1 public schools educators, parents and business leaders. I am on the Title 1 committee for Peanut’s school, which is called FIT – the Family Involvement Team.

The conference was excellent. The sessions that I attended provided me with material that I can use in helping Peanut succeed in school and in life.

I had to wake up at 5 AM this morning though. No nap for me so I am exhausted and not feeling well. I will go into more detail about this event in another post as I am off to bed now.

    Book Meme

    February 27th, 2008

I’ve been tagged by my new blogging friend Anna from My Cornerstone Trio to do a Book Meme.

    The Rules:
    1. Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages).
    2. Open the book to page 123.
    3. Find the fifth sentence.
    4. Post the next three sentences.
    5. Tag five people.

    Here we go.

I’m not reading this book, but it’s a book laying here waiting to be listed for sale -

    Born Free by Joy Adamson
Since page 123 is made up of a photo, I skipped to page 124 (I always have to be difficult)…

As soon as she sees one of those awful shiny boxes focused on her she invariably trns her head, or covers it with a paw, or just walks away. On this last day of Isiolo she had to endure a lot from our Leica and plainly got thoroughly fed up with it. So finally she took her revenge. purpose she shook it more provokingly between her teeth, or chewed on it, holding it firmly

    5 people to be tagged:
    1. Linda from Are We There Yet?
    2. Tina from Mummified Times Five
    3. Sue from Farvel Cargo (check out her video it’s so funny!)
    4. Holly from Everything and Anything
    5. Breezie from Just Shooting the Breeze with Breezie

    Pigging Out

    February 26th, 2008

“I’ve been a bad, bad girl…” (Fiona Apple from the song Criminal)

Yesterday I couldn’t stop eating junk food. I know that it’s the worst thing in the world for me but I couldn’t control myself. Hubby bought Oreo Cakesters for Peanut. My Mom bought Entemens Fudge Brownie Little Bites for Peanut. We’re all trying to fatten her up.

She decided that she didn’t like the Fudge Brownie ones. She does love the Cakesters though. Well selfish Mom that I am, I snuck two packages of those and ate them. I also had two packages of the Fudge Little Bites.

Then I didn’t feel like cooking dinner and neither did Hubby. Since Peanut wasn’t feeling so hot yesterday we let her choose what she’d like for dinner. McDonalds it was. I had a Big Mac and Fries. I felt like I needed someone to roll me away I was so stuffed.

After a day like this I was looking for the best diet pills to keep in the house for another time when I have this urge to pig out. I hope it doesn’t happen for a very long time though.

    Contemporary Christian Music

    February 26th, 2008

I listen to Contemporary Christian Music. I only allow Peanut to listen to it too. Of course she does listen to some Disney music, especially High School Musical, but that’s mostly on TV. And yes I know I can’t shelter her for her entire life. That’s not my point.

The reason I listen to this kind of music is that I want to have my mind and heart on Jesus at all times. I don’t like the lyrics of pop music today. Many times the songs are about sex and not about making love to your spouse! I do sometimes listen to classic rock and enjoy that but most of the time it’s CCM.

As to my daughter, I believe there will be a time when peer pressure will push her to make choices I don’t agree with. I pray that by that time though the values I and Hubby have instilled in her (of course along with the Bible and church) will help her weed through the things she knows are wrong.
