Party When You’re Sick

I look at my life realistically but with as much optimism as possible too. When I’m hurting more than normal or feel like I can’t stay awake I know I must remember my limits. Nope, I’m not that good at that yet but I’m working on it.

One of the difficulties when you’re chronically ill is planning. You get an invitation to a party or a meeting that’s planned a month away it’s hard to know how you’ll feel that day. I hate canceling at the last minute but sometimes it’s how it works out.

What I do is that if I commit to a party or another type of get-together I’ll let the host know about my condition. Now if it’s a wedding or something like that, then I’ll do my best to rest up before hand in order to be as healthy as possible. I’ll go unless I’m in the hospital or something serious, but if I’m really sick I’ll have to make it a short stay.

I’ve been invited to a “couple’s party” featuring sensual accessories by a good friend. The theme is Valentine’s Day. This is a new one for me! The company that’s selling at the party has adult passion toys, lotions and lingerie like bustiers.

For this particular party I said I couldn’t make it. I know I’ll be embarrassed so the stress level will be high. I also know that it’s on a Friday night. Friday’s are usually not good days for night time parties. I still have to do my normal everyday stuff during the day so I can’t rest as much as I’d like. Plus Hubby works Fridays and Saturdays so he’s too tired to get changed and go out knowing he has to get up early the next day.

Life with chronic illnesses can be managed. You can have fun too and work out ways to enjoy the better things in life. With some planning you can go to parties and take part in real life!
