Today I had the idea to get some more things organized around the house. We still haven’t finished decorating our brand new den and the closets are packed full of containers and boxes of things that we want to hang on the walls or put up on shelves.
It’s so overwhelming that I stand there and try to figure out what I need to do first. I started to go through one box. OMGosh I found things in there that we thought were gone, that had disappeared in thin air. So I took those things out. There were a few items we purchased, brand new still with tags on them and put them in the box of “to use for decorating”. At least I found those and made some headway.
The other things were in a word, junk. I think that box ended up being a place to put anything we didn’t know what to do with. I put those items in the trash or if they had some life in them in our ever growing box of things to donate.
Then I stood in the den trying to decide what’s next. Yes the walls are pretty much bare but one thing that’s missing is some good lighting. We have two end tables and need lamps on both of them. We’re looking for something unique and haven’t been able to find it yet. I’m going to take a look at Seagull lighting to see if Hubby and I can agree on lamps. We basically don’t agree but I get him to see my way after a while. That’s my next step. I’m taking it all in steps now so I don’t lose it completely.
I did a thorough clean up and get rid of the junk weekend around here last Fall. I was amazed at how much stuff I had collected and hadn’t put to use.
