We’ve all seen how videos from ordinary people have gotten them exposure and made us laugh, cry or maybe even both at the same time. Think of the TV shows that feature homemade videos. There’s a lot of them now. I’ll admit it, if I’m channel surfing and you see one of those shows where a child is sliding down a snow covered hill, I have to stop and watch the outcome. And I laugh too. Even at the corny jokes of the announcer or the voice overs on the videos.
These type of videos, made by folks like you and me have grown due to the internet. Ever since I’ve seen the Obama Girl video I’ve been hooked on checking out videos online. I mean here was someone singing and kissing a US presidential candidate. Talk about bringing the campaign to the people. Now it’s easy to use a digital camera and upload a video for millions to see.
One of these days, Ms. Non-Geek is going to try it for herself.YawpBox can be the help I’m looking for. This site allows you to upload videos easily and then put some of the best on TV. You need to become a member to use this site. Then once your video is uploaded other members vote on it. Some of the topics are funny by themselves – Cross Dress Challenge, Eww! The Weirdest Thing You’ve Ever Eaten, Wounds and Bites – Oh Yikes! Let’s See, etc.
There’s a Lex and Larry Challenge where you’re given challenges of what type of videos they’re looking for. In March there will be a nation wide TV and radio show featuring some of the best videos voted by the community. This really sounds like a fun show. You can not only view the videos online now but the outtakes of the Lex and Larry challenge video – too funny.
Take a chance. Who knows you may end up on TV and become famous or infamous.
