I went to pick up a prescription for blood work as I had called my doctor to tell him how awful I’m feeling. He’s back from vacation so he’s overbooked and didn’t have any appointments. He called in a prescription of a Medrol Pack for me and wanted the blood work done.
When I got to his office and he saw me, he told the receptionist to make me an appointment for Monday. Well it’s nice to know that I looked that sick and that he believed me. I joked and asked if they thought I was faking when I called.
It’s a bit funny how doctors’ offices work. This particular doctor and office staff know me for over three years now. So they thought they were doing me a favor by not having me come in for an appointment (that’s what I learned from talking to them) but instead it made me feel like I was being a bother to them.
So communicate with your doctor and his or her staff well. Mean what you say and say what you mean. I’m going to work on my communication skills when I call any of my doctors from now. I tend to ramble (who me?) and the whole thing gets jumbled up. I will make notes about my symptoms and what I need from the doctor to help me stay on target. I’ll also be sure to state if I feel I need to see the doctor. Lesson learned.

I don’t like my doctor, because she obviously have no other patients with physical disabilities, and she talks to me as if I’m mentally-challenged. I’ve found that most physicians are like that even now.

I spent all of Saturday in bed with one of the nastiest flu bugs I have had in a long while. I’m out of bed today mostly because I couldn’t find a comfortable position to get into but I still feel kind of lousy around the edges. I suppose I should try eating something but I’m a little afraid to.
Hope that you feel better soon!
