There’s a terrible ice storm in the Midwest right now. It’s a serious situation where the roads are treacherous, the electricity has gone off and people have died. I don’t imagine that anyone likes this type of weather. Snow may be alright but ice not so.
I’m not into cold weather at all. I hate it. With the chronic illnesses I think I’d be worse living in an area where there’s too much cold. I also suffered from SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder when I grew up in NY. So thank goodness I’m in Florida now.
Even though I live in Florida we often travel and vacation here. You can’t beat the beaches and warm weather. Amelia Island in Florida has been voted one of the top ten beaches by Conde Naste readers. Conde Naste readers know their travel destinations so this is a top honor.
Amelia Island has maintained it’s southern charm in it’s architecture and it’s shrimping industry. There’s an annual Shrimp Festival held there so I can enjoy some favorite foods.
There’s a lot to do or you can take the relax mode. I’d love to enjoy the beautiful beaches or watch the sunset by the docks. Hubby may want to be adventurous and go sailing, hiking, or even horseback riding on the beach. I know he’s love the golf courses there too. I think I can talk Hubby into a sunset cruise so we can do a little romancing.
There’s a lodging special going on until February 9, 2008 where you can stay 2 nights at a certain hotels or Bed and Breakfasts on Amelia and get the 3rd night free. After all we’ve been through these last few months and knowing we won’t be celebrating our wedding anniversary we deserve this.

This type of weather scares me. We’re lucky in that we don’t get severe storms due to snow and ice. I watch the reports on tv about the disastrous hurricanes and earthquakes that you guys experience in the US. I don’t know how you handle it!
