• About

I’m a wife and mom of two daughters. My daughters are 12 years apart so that keeps me quite busy and a little crazy at times. My life is a jumble of mixed up mishaps, but it’s always centered around my family.

    An Early Happy New Year!

    December 29th, 2007

Since I won’t be here to wish my blogging friends Happy New Year on New Year’s Eve, here’s my early greeting to you all:

I pray that 2008 is a year of new beginnings. A year where you live like there’s no tomorrow, being kind and loving to your family, friends and acquaintances, where you cherish each moment and live for the present, where you look for and work for peace and where you find happiness!

    May God Bless You!

    ShawnsBidness Collectibles on eBay

We’re having a sale over at our eBay store ShawnsBidness Collectibles. If you like Disney items, we have them! We’re selling clothing, antenna toppers, hats, lots of Tinker Bell things like plaques, a bookmark, a Christmas ornament and pin set and even two limited edition plaques and of course Mickey Mouse and Disney Vacation Club collectibles.

We also have some die cast cars, vintage photos, sewing patterns, a lot of Quink and Shrip ink bottles with two fountain pens – one is an Esterbrook, and many other products.

We had the honor of being interviewed by Avid Cat, an online store directory. You can check this out here.

We’re leaving for our quick vacation to Disney so we’ll probably return with more things to sell. And hopefully some sales too!

    Getting Ready For Disney

    December 28th, 2007

It’s been too long. I need my Disney fix so we’ll be going to WDW on Sunday and staying until New Year’s Day. I’m finally starting to get excited about it. I’m still not feeling well but I’ll do my best while I’m there.

We’re staying at Shades of Green instead of using our DVC points because it’s a high point time and because we wanted to stay where we can see the New Year’s Eve Fireworks from our hotel. Last year we went to the Magic Kingdom and it was packed. I’m not too good in serious crowds with my scooter so we went back to the hotel.

I hope this year won’t be a repeat of last year: Peanut didn’t take a nap that day like we told her so she was zonked out by midnight. Hubby ended up falling asleep around 11:30 PM. So I watched the Walt Disney World New Year’s Eve fireworks on TV. Pretty sad, huh?

With not being able to take my Humira shot my hands are hurting really bad. I’m concerned about using my scooter to get around. But I can always switch hands or have Peanut in my lap and let her hold the handle while I steer. That’s a bit scary so I use that as a last resort.

I’m packing tomorrow so we can get an early start on Sunday morning, maybe….

    Donations For Worthy Causes

    December 26th, 2007

We donate during the year to some charitable organizations and of course to our church but at the end of the year we often try to find some other worthy causes. It’s the end of the year when we look back and realize how blessed we’ve been and how we want to share our blessings with others.

While searching for charities I came across Boat Angel. This is a great charity for people in Florida or any where that people own boats. You can donate a boat even if it’s no longer working (there are some restrictions, so I doubt you can donate a sunken boat). If you’re paying storage fees for a boat that you can’t use Boat Angel will not only take the boat off your hands with free pick up, you will get the benefit of a tax deduction too. You can also chose the charity you’d like the money from the sale of your boat to go to. There are some guidelines to this too.

Boat Angel lists the charities they deal with but you can request another one too. They will do a background check on the non-profit of your choice to see if it qualifies. Some of the charities listed are The Jesus Film Project, American Bible Society, Mercy Ships and many more.

If you’re thinking, “I want to donate my boat” but I want more info on what they will do with my boat once they take it from me. They sell them on eBay with 100% of the proceeds going to Boat Angel.

They also provide free of charge Children’s Animation DVDS, even the shipping is free. The messages are all positive. Some are for younger children like the Donkey Ollie series of DVDS and then there’s a new one for tweens and teens.

This is called D.O.P.E. featuring skateboard stars Jay Adams from Dogtown’s Z Boys, Christian Hosoi, Dennis Martinez and Bruce Logan. The music is awesome and the story is real. It is about how drugs tried to claim their lives after they became famous. And what their lives are like now after rehab.

Boat Angels is doing some really great work. Even if you can’t donate a boat, consider making a monetary donation. Check out some of the videos on here to learn more.
